FAIRHAVEN, Wash – A piece of history in Fairhaven has come tumbling down.
Crews yesterday demolished the iconic archway at the entry to Fairhaven Park.
A spokesperson for the Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department says the brick structure had become unstable and dangerous, and that it was too deteriorated to save.
The Bellingham Herald reports it had welcomed visitors to the park for 92 years. It may be replaced by a new gateway.
