MOUNT VERNON, WASH. – The trial for two men charged with shooting a Mount Vernon Police officer and another man last December is pushed back to June 5.

The delay comes after a request from defense lawyers.

Ernesto Rivas and Austin Gonzales are being tried as co-defendants in the shooting that wounded Officer Mike McClaughry and another man.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports the defense wanted more time to prepare for trial.
