A first motorcycle ride ends tragically.
Ferndale High School senior Petr Shulga died Monday when he lost control of his bike.
Jesse Murphy with Cascade Motorcycle Safety says taking classes are important preparation.
“There’s so many things to be aware of. It’s a long-worn phrase, ‘Ride your ride.’ Be ready to stay within your comfort zone,” Murphy says.
Murphy also says a certified, well-fitting helmet is important.
State troopers say excessive speed and inexperience played a role in Shulga’s crash.
The Ferndale School District has counselors and staff on hand to help students.
