Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas is back home in Tacoma with family following the death of his younger sister. According to ESPN, Thomas flew from Boston to Washington Wednesday morning.

It’s the first time Thomas has been back home since his 22-year-old sister, Chyna, died in a single-car accident on April 15th. Thomas played in both playoff games for the Celtics since the accident. Boston lost both games to Chicago despite a combined 53 points from Thomas.

The former Washington Husky star released a statement Wednesday through the Celtics and on social media. Calling this the “hardest week of my life”, Thomas stated “I have been overwhelmed by the love and support that I have received and couldn’t be more thankful for my friends, family, fans, the City of Boston, Celtics organization and the NBA community.”

The Celtics return to playoff action on Friday in Chicago with game 3 in the best-of-seven series.
