BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Welcome to allergy season.

More than 67 million people suffer from allergies, and 81 percent of them say they’re allergic to pollen.

Dr. Donald Bucklin, Regional Medical Director for U.S. HealthWorks, has some tips for surviving allergy season.

“Try not to go outside during the high-pollen times, which is kind of late morning, especially if it’s windy, ’cause you’re going to get a real face full of ’em,” Bucklin said.

“Next thing you want to do is keep your windows closed by using your air conditioner, because that keeps pollen out of the house.”

He says other tips include taking an antihistamine, washing out your nose, not rubbing your eyes, washing bedding every week and showering before going to bed.

According to pollen.com, it’s going to be a rough couple of days for people with allergies in Bellingham.

Pollen levels will be in the medium-high to high range Friday through Monday.
