OAKLAND, Calif. – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has recalled right-handed pitcher Chase De Jong from AAA Tacoma. Right-handed pitcher Dan Altavilla has been optioned to AAA Tacoma.
De Jong will be in uniform (#35) and available for tonight’s game at the Oakland Athletics.
De Jong was 2-0 with a 1.74 ERA with 10 strikeouts in two starts for AAA Tacoma. He made his Major League debut on April 5 at Houston, taking the loss. He was acquired by Seattle from Los Angeles Dodgers on March 1. He was recalled from Tacoma on Opening Day before being optioned post-game on April 5.
Altavilla is 1-1 with a 7.36 ERA with 10 strikeouts and 6 walks in 9 relief appearances with the Mariners this season.
