BELLINGHAM, WASH. – The ringleader of a drug smuggling operation that was broken up in Bellingham pleads guilty.
Prosecutors say Kevin Kerfoot of Surrey, British Columbia was the leader of an attempt to smuggle 90 pounds of cocaine and seven pounds of ecstasy in 2005.
Police found the cocaine when they pulled a car over and then arrested the captain of a boat and two other men waiting at the Squalicum Harbor Marina in Bellingham.
That’s where they discovered the ecstasy.
Kerfoot faces a mandatory minimum 10-year prison sentence.
The other members of the ring were sentenced to prison terms ranging from six-and-a-half to just over three years.
