BELLINGHAM, WASH. – The State Patrol is urging May Day protesters to stay off freeways.

Troopers point to the Bellingham I-5 protest in February as an example of why it’s a bad idea.

The State Patrol says it will continue safeguarding the rights of peaceful protesters, but won’t tolerate blocking freeways.

One person was hurt in a rollover crash during the protest that closed the northbound lanes of I-5 near Lakeway.
