First ballot count shows Blaine voters in favor of sales tax increase

BLAINE, WASH. – Blaine voters are overwhelmingly approving a Transportation Benefit District that raises sales taxes 0.2 percent.

After the first count of ballots, nearly 73 percent of the votes support the measure.

The tax increase is expected to bring about $200,000 a year for streets and trails.
