BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Your chance to get rid of those old prescription drugs sitting around your house is this weekend.
It’s part of a national program that DEA Acting Administrator Chuck Rosenberg says addresses a national crisis.
“Four out of five new heroin users started out using prescription pills. So there is a very direct connection between the bottle sitting in your medicine cabinet, and a friend or a child or a neighbor who ends up getting a hold of it, and later getting hooked on heroin.”
You can take expired or unneeded prescription drugs to the Bellingham Police Department from ten Saturday morning until two in the afternoon.
The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
