BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Three members of the Western Washington University women’s golf team have been named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
Senior Brooke Branigan (Bellingham, WA), junior Jenn Paul (Bellingham, WA) and sophomore Hannah Drake (Pocatello, ID/Century) were three of the 14 All-Academic team honorees.
To qualify for selection to the GNAC All-Academic Teams, a student-athlete must be of sophomore standing or better, have a 3.20 cumulative grade point or better and be in their second season of competition at the nominating school.
Branigan became a three-time selection to the All-Academic team with a 3.56 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major. Branigan played in eight of WWU’s 10 tournaments in 2016-17 and recently placed 22nd at the GNAC Championships. She joins Montana State Billings senior Haley Shackelford and Saint Martin’s senior Chloe Read as three-time selections to the team.
Paul was named to the team for the second consecutive year with a 3.56 GPA as an accounting Major. She was WWU’s leader in scoring average during the season at 77.50 and tied for 3rd in the GNAC Championships.
Drake earned a spot on the team with a 3.64 GPA as a pre-physical therapy major in her first year of eligibility. She played in eight of WWU’s 10 tournaments with a scoring average of 81.29. Drake placed 5th in the GNAC Championships.
WWU is on the bubble for the upcoming announcement of the NCAA Division II Golf Championships, which will be announced Monday at 3 pm PT on NCAA.com.
