BELLINGHAM, WASH. – Allergy season is here and studies show plants inside your home or office can clean the air.

Northwest garden shop owner Mark Bigej.

“It cleanses the air of things like allergens [and] pollutants. In fact, NASA has done a lot of different studies on it and they found that [plants] really scrub the air and make for an overall better environment,” Bigej says.

The NASA study recommends the “Peace Lily” to clean certain chemicals from the air.

Bigej says Dracaena plants and ferns are both good general air scrubbers.

The pollen count in Bellingham this week will be in the medium high range.
