OLYMPIA, Wash (AP) – Governor Inslee signed a bill that requires the notification of police and people with protection orders if someone fails a background check after trying to buy a gun.
“I’m appreciative of this bill, and I believe this, in part, comes from our review of our firearms laws to find holes in our net. We found a hole,” Inslee says.
The new law also calls for the establishment of a grant program that would allow local law enforcement to conduct investigations into people who illegally try to get a gun.
