PHOENIX, AZ. – A former Bellingham man is found dead in the Arizona desert thanks to a one-time Whatcom County Jail inmate.
Phoenix Police say a tip from Craig Strong led them to Darren Van Eaton’s remains and a woman who was spending his Social Security benefits.
Police say Strong admits to being involved in the 2014 murder.
He’s currently in a state prison for crimes committed in Whatcom County.
A man Strong implicated is also in custody on unrelated charges.
Van Eaton has a criminal history in Whatcom County.
