DEMING, WASH. – The man the State Patrol says caused the wreck that led to the death of a baby and her father has several traffic infractions and a felony on his record.
The felony from 1976 was not related to driving.
Troopers says 71-year-old Larry Fitzgerald of Maple Falls crossed the center line on the Mount Baker Highway Sunday and hit two cars.
One car had 25-year-old Phillip Moyer and his 5-month-old daughter Penelope in it; they both died.
Pamela Moyer, 24, was in the other car and survived with minor injuries.
Fitzgerald remains in critical condition.
A GoFundMe page set up to help Pamela has already raised nearly $38,000 after only one day.
The page says the family was headed to church at the time of the wreck.
