SEATTLE, WASH. (AP)- Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Governor Jay Inslee met in Seattle Thursday to discuss their close ties on topics ranging from trade to climate.

It was on the same day the U.S. Secretary of Commerce notified Congress that NAFTA renegotiations would begin in 90 days with Canada and Mexico.

Trudeau says he’s happy to talk about how NAFTA can be improved.

Trudeau says he’s also happy to talk about, “how we can create better opportunities for our citizens, greater economic growth for our countries and continue to amplify the impact and the strength of the North American economy.”

Trudeau also was in the state to speak at Microsoft’s CEO Summit that was focused on topics related to cybersecurity and the race to space.

Trudeau’s office says he is the first sitting head of government or state to be invited to address the summit, and was there to promote Canada’s technology industry.
