Seattle. WASH-New Amtrak locomotives will soon be heading down the tracks in Western Washington.

State Transportation Secretary Roger Millar says the eight trains worth $59-million are part of an $800- million federal grant to improve rail service.

“They’re start of the art machines, it’s really nice to have them on board. they meet the strictest tier 4 emissions standards which is important for us here in Washington State” Roger Millar said.

They will be used on the Amtrak Cascades Corridor between Vancouver, British Columbia and Eugene, Oregon.

They’re scheduled to go into service this summer.
