BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) – Salmonella has sickened at least one Whatcom County resident and 15 others in Washington.

It’s part of a nationwide outbreak linked to baby chicks and ducklings that has made nearly 400 people ill.

If you want to pick up the baby birds, you should wash your hands with soap and water immediately after.

While it may be difficult at times, try to avoid kissing and snuggling with chicks and ducklings.
