BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Guns for women, minorities and members the LGBTQ community is the call from a local progressive activist.

Tara Nelson is also the Chair of the 40th District Democrats board.

“I’m not saying that everybody needs to necessarily arm themselves.”

She’s speaking out about gun rights for women, people of color and LGBTQ people.

She says more of those individuals should get concealed weapons permits and learn how to use a gun.

“I certainly wouldn’t blame anybody in a protected vulnerable group of people for wanting to feel safe and protect themselves.”

Nelson says gun rights aren’t just for white angry men and, every American has the right to defend themselves.
