OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – Evergreen State College in Olympia changed its venue for graduation in the wake of recent threats.
It’s just the latest development in the saga at the school impacting students like John Sanders.
“Over all, just a really frustrating unnecessary event.” Sanders said.
The Olympian reports the board of trustees decided to move the June 16th commencement to Cheney Stadium in Tacoma because it’s centrally located and secure.
Evergreen student protests related to race, equality and free speech are garnering widespread media attention.
This student only identified herself as Vee.
“This targeting only happens, specifically cause of Evergreen’s new found spot light in national media.” She says
A phoned-in threat last week forced a campus evacuation and shutdown.
