BAKER RIVER, Wash. – More than a million young Baker River salmon are headed to the ocean from Puget Sound Energy’s Baker River Project.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports a record-setting release of about 1.1 million young salmon.

The released salmon will spend the next two years in the ocean.

The survivors that grow up to be adult salmon will head back to the Baker River in 2019.
