SEATTLE, Wash. (KOMO) – Boeing is getting illegal state subsidies according to the World Trade Organization.
The WTO issued that ruling Friday.
Aviation analyst Scott Hamilton tells our partner station KOMO this is far from over so not many are benefiting yet.
“The only people who benefit from this are lawyers, on both sides, and we journalists that get to write about it.”
Friday’s ruling will almost certainly be appealed.
Boeing’s chief rival Airbus was hit with a similar decision last year.
Both airlines are now claiming victory.
The WTO is also moving forward on a case against Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier.
Boeing is accusing it of receiving illegal subsidies.
