BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A big grant for so-called S.T.E.M. students at Western Washington University.

Western is getting a $1 million.

It’s one of 24 schools in the country selected by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute to receive the grant.

The money is meant to improve student success in science, technology, engineering and math fields.

It specifically targets minority students who are under-represented in the natural sciences.
