The Seattle Mariners made 30 selections Wednesday to wrap up the 2017 MLB First Year Player Draft.

Four picks on day 3 were used on players with ties to the Pacific Northwest.  They include outfielder Jesse Franklin out of Seattle Prep High School in Seattle, and shortstop Kolby Somers from Century High School in Hillsboro, Oregon, The M’s also selected shortstop Jack Smith from Mercer Island High School and third baseman Zach Needham from Edmonds Community College.

Overall Seattle picked 40 players in the draft, highlighted by their first pick, infielder Evan White, who was the 17th overall selection.  The Mariners selected 23 pitchers, 3 catchers, 9 infielders, and 5 outfielders. Seattle picked 32 college players and 8 high school players.
