BURLINGTON, Wash. – Farm workers were expected to approve a contract Thursday with a Skagit County berry farm.
Union negotiators agreed to deal with Sakuma Brothers Farms earlier in the week.
“This is a good contract that farm workers and the people already working under contract, they’re going to be working with the minimum of $15 an hour,” said union president Ramon Torres, through an interpreter.
The new pact follows years of labor strife between Sakuma and its workers, including lawsuits, walkouts, and boycotts.
