RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seahawks have wrapped up their offseason program with the conclusion of their mandatory minicamp in Renton, Washington. Seattle’s offseason program was shorter than most others in the NFL because of penalties incurred by the team for previous violations during the spring workouts.

Coach Pete Carroll provided injury updates on several players before the conclusion of the minicamp, including the first update provided on cornerback DeShawn Shead.

“He’s making great progress,” Carroll said of Shead, who re-signed with the Seahawks this past March. “He is one of the all-time best healers. He applies himself as well as a person can do in terms of getting back. He’s got all the grit and the perseverance about making it through this as quickly as you possibly can, so he’s doing great.”

However, Carroll did say they do not expect Shead back in time for the start of the regular season. Carroll then provided updates on several other players he is not sure will be back in time for the season opener including Quinton Jefferson and Tyler Lockett.

“We’ve got to see how Quinton Jefferson comes along. We need to see where he is,” Carroll said. “Tyler’s still a question. We’ve got to see how Tyler is.”

In regards to Dion Jordan Carroll said, “He really just got back in the area today from some work that he had done, so I really don’t know much about that yet.” Jordan was added in free agency from the Miami Dolphins this offseason. He recently had surgery for “loose bodies” in his knee. Carroll also said wide receiver Tanner McEvoy had toe surgery this offseason and it forced a “big setback” for McEvoy.

The Seahawks are off for six weeks before the start of training camp in late July.
