ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — An attorney for a former Bellingham High School student involved in the deadly Washington D-C-area sniper attacks says his life sentence should be thrown out.
Lee Boyd Malvo is now 32-years-old.
He was convicted when he was teen for his role in the 2002 sniper shootings.
The U.S. Supreme Court has since ruled that mandatory life sentences for children are unconstitutional.
Malvo’s attorney told a Maryland judge the Supreme Court ruling is clear.
Last month a federal judge in Virginia ruled that Malvo is entitled to new sentencing hearings.
The sniper shootings left 10 people dead and three wounded.
