BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University head women’s basketball coach Carmen Dolfo has announced the addition of three transfers to the program that will begin playing for the Vikings during the upcoming 2017-18 season.
Sophomore guard Dani Iwami (Seal Beach, CA/Hawai’i Pacific), sophomore forward Anna Schwecke (Evergreen, CO/Colorado-Colorado Springs) and redshirt sophomore guard Taylor Enders (West Linn, OR/Utah State) will suit up for the Vikings beginning next season. Iwami and Schwecke both helped lead their teams to the NCAA Division II Tournament last season, while Enders is a transfer from Division I Utah State.
The three transfers join the already announced signings of freshman guard Emma Duff (Tumwater, WA/Black Hills HS), freshman forward/center Kelsey Rogers (Bothell, WA/Lynnwood HS) and junior guard Bobbi Westendorf (Auburn, WA/Kentridge HS/Tacoma Community College).
Enders spent two seasons at Division I Utah State University, appearing in five games as a true freshman in 2015-16 and utilized her redshirt season in 2016-17…starred as a junior and senior for West Linn High School outside of Portland, after playing as a freshman and sophomore at Hermiston High School.
Iwami (E-wam-ee) transfers from Hawai’i Pacific University where she appeared in 27 games, making 16 starts, as a true freshman in 2016-17…averaged 5.9 points and 1.6 assists per game for the Sharks
Schwecke (SHWEK-ee) appeared in 32 games during her redshirt freshman season helping lead Colorado-Colorado Springs to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament Championship and a trip to the NCAA II Tournament in 2016-17…averaged 15.6 minutes per game
The Vikings are coming off another successful season in 2016-17 reaching the NCAA Division II West Regional semifinal game. WWU finished the season with a 26-6 record and was 2nd in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with an 18-2 mark.
