The Seattle Mariners have signed right-handed pitcher Sam Carlson out of Burnsville High School in Minnesota. He was the club’s second selection in the 2017 First-Year Player Draft. The Mariners Director of Amateur Scouting Scott Hunter announced the signing of the 55th overall selection Wednesday.

During his senior season at Burnsville, Carlson had a 0.54 ERA with 7 walks and 51 strikeouts, going 5-0.
