BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Whatcom County Sheriff’s deputies are cracking down on drunk boating.
They’re calling it Operation Dry Water.
Law enforcement across the nation will be out looking for drunk boaters this coming weekend.
Alcohol use is the leading cause of recreational boater deaths.
Boating under the influence laws in our state are very similar to those for driving under the influence: You can’t have a blood alcohol level of .08 or 5 or more nanograms of active THC in your blood.
