SEATTLE, Wash. (AP) – Black Lives Matter activists shut down Seattle’s Pride parade for about 30 minutes Sunday, protesting the police shooting death of 30-year-old Charleena Lyles.

Earlier, a few protesters carrying signs with Bible verses and “you are a great sinner” disrupted the pre-parade celebration, but police kept things moving.

Thousands of men, women and children carrying rainbow flags hit the streets in the 43rd annual event.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray said on Twitter that the city was celebrating unity and a strong community.
