BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The drug kingpin behind an attempt to smuggle 90 pounds of cocaine from Bellingham into Canada was sentenced to 13-years in prison.

Kevin Kerfoot of Surrey, B.C. was indicted in 2006, nine months after his co-conspirators were arrested in Bellingham with the coke.

He fought extradition from Canada for years before finally pleading guilty in April.

The other members of the smuggling ring already served their time.

Around this time last year, one of those men was shot seven or eight times.

He survived and said Kerfoot was behind the attack.

The shooter is currently awaiting trial in Canada.
