STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. (AP) – The state killed a wolf in northeast Washington to prevent more attacks on livestock.
The Director of the Department of Fish and Wildlife authorized killing some members of the Smackout pack.
The wolves in that pack have repeatedly attacked livestock in Stevens County.
This is the fourth time the state has killed wolves.
The animals are listed as endangered in Washington, but the state can kill them under certain conditions.
Some groups criticize the killings.
