BELLINGHAM, Wash. – With smoke lingering in Whatcom County, the National Weather Service has once again extended its air quality alert.
The alert was in effect until noon Thursday, but now lasts until noon Friday.
Air quality in Whatcom County ranges from “unhealthy” in Bellingham and Maple Falls to “unhealthy for sensitive groups” in Custer, according to the Washington Department of Ecology’s Air Monitoring Network.
Winds are still bringing smoke from BC’s wildfires into Western Washington, but are expected to change late Thursday and Friday.
It will still take some time for the winds to flush out the smoke.
