BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Few citations have been issued under Washington’s new distracted driving law, but more could be on the way.
From July 23rd to the 29th, the first week of the law, troopers issued 27 distracted driving citations. Comparatively, 118 citations were issued the week before the new restrictions went into effect.
The News Tribune reports that troopers gave 310 warnings that first week.
The State Patrol is giving Washington drivers a six-month “grace” period to get used to the law.
