ESPN.com reports former Washington Husky hoop star Isaiah Thomas had some strong words for teams doubting his long-term health after the hip injury that ended his season early.

“I am not damaged,” Thomas told ESPN Tuesday.  “I’ll be back and I’ll be the same player.”

Thomas, a native of Tacoma, averaged 28.9 points a game last season before suffering the labrum injury. He was second-team All-NBA for the Boston Celtics. Thomas was part of a trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers Aug. 22, but the uncertainty about his status has stalled the finalizing of the move.

“There’s never been an indication that I wouldn’t be back, and there’s never been an indication that this is something messing up my career,” Thomas told ESPN.  “Maybe I am not going to be back as soon this season as everyone wants me to be, but I’m going to be back, and I’m going to be the same player again.  No doctor has told me anything different than that.”
