BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A recent Western Washington University graduate says the DACA policy made it possible for him to attend college.

“It’s really been significant in me being able to continue my education, because many undocumented people do not receive any sort of financial aid,” Jose Manuel told KGMI.

“Being able to work and help parents pay for my education has been really significant,” said Manuel.

His parents brought him to the U.S. illegally when he was just 8 years old, he said.

The Trump Administration announced Tuesday morning that it’s phasing out the Delayed Action for Childhood Arrivals policy.

Manuel fears that any move by Congress to deal with the issue will still leave behind many undocumented immigrants already living in the U.S.

In a tweet Tuesday afternoon, Western Washington University’s president said the school “is committed to supporting” its DACA students.
