ENUMCLAW, Wash. (AP) – A wildfire burning near the Crystal Mountain Ski area more than doubled in size.
Jesse Cartwright of Crystal Mountain Fire Department told KOMO that the area is still closed to visitors.
“We want to make sure that if we have guests here, that they’re safe. And without being able to visibly see what’s going on, it’s not safe right now,” Cartwright said.
The lightning-sparked blaze is burning in the wilderness east of Mount Rainier.
The fire is nearly 68 square miles and less than 10 percent contained.
