BELLINGHAM, Wash – The tight labor market will make the holidays brighter for permanent and seasonal employees of retailers with Whatcom and Skagit County footprints.
The Wall Street Journal reports Wal-Mart is hiring seasonal works for its e-commerce operations, while at its brick-and-mortar stores, it is instead boosting hours for existing employees.
Target, Macy’s and other national retailers started posting seasonal hire recruitment ads early this year, in some cases as early as July.
Amazon.com plans to add 120,000 seasonal workers this fall, on top of the 100,000 permanent employees they want to hire in the next 18 months.
