Police: man said he would shoot the person who reported him to the Humane Society

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – A man is in jail after he threatened to put a bullet in the head of a person concerned about the treatment of a dog, police said.

Police arrested Joseph Mersil Monday morning.

Police said someone contacted the Humane Society about the way Mersil was treating his Rottweiler.

That’s when Mersil made the threat, police said.

The Whatcom Humane Society now has his dog.
