BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The fist big cargo shipment in 17 years is expected to arrive at the Port of Bellingham Thursday.

The 590-foot MV Diana Bolten should arrive from Turkey in the afternoon.

The Bellingham Herald reported it will anchor in Bellingham Bay while its cargo of organic corn and soybeans is tested.

Unloading the cargo should take approximately four days, which is destined for local markets.

The Port has spent about $500,000 dollars on improvements to attract more of these kinds of shipments.
