BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Two major Bellingham waterfront projects are moving forward.
The Granary Avenue and Laurel Street project involves construction of a new road through the former Georgia Pacific site.
Ram Construction will get nearly $9 million to do the work. That money comes from “county economic development dollars, state-authorized LIFT dollars, our own street fund, as well as a federal grant,” City Council President Michael Lilliquist said.
Construction of the new Waypoint Park is also getting underway. The city will pay Strider Construction more than $2 million to develop the one-acre park.
Meanwhile, The Granary Building is expected to be finished this year with shops, restaurants and offices.
