An organization that works to improve affordability and access to housing said the House Republican tax reform plan released this week would adversely affect thousands of Washington residents.

The state Housing Finance Commission says the GOP plan would eliminate a program it uses to issue tax-exempt privately-funded bonds to developers to build affordable apartments.

The Commission said that would leave more than 2,000 families who earn less that 60 percent of their area’s median income unable to afford rent.
