BELLINGHAM, Wash – November 7th is Election Day and that means ballots are due with a Tuesday postmark for mailed ballots.

Drop box users must deposit their ballot by 8 p.m. Tuesday night to be counted.

Whatcom County voters are deciding whether to approve a 0.2% sales tax increase to fund a new county jail, while deciding County Council, Port of Bellingham, Fire Protection, Hospital, Park and Rec, and Water district offices as well as local races for various city offices.

Whatcom County Council this races are keying on water and property rights issues stemming from the Hirst decision; housing affordability and homelessness; and development issues.

Point Roberts and Birch Bay area voters are voting on replacement park and rec property tax levies.

Lummi Island voters are voting on establishment of a park district along with a supporting property tax levy.

And voters in the Columbia Valley area are deciding on the establishment of a 6-year parks and recreations property tax levy.
