BELLINGHAM, Wash. – With the failure of the sales tax levy in the November 7th election to finance a new Whatcom County Jail, the question now is what’s next?
Whatcom County Executive Jack Louws has announced an information session Tuesday, November 28th, at 3:30pm at the Whatcom County Court house.
Design2LAST, Inc. is the design firm contracted for capital improvements to the existing jail.
They will present their Phase 1B findings on code compliance, structural deficiencies, and expected costs to improved the existing jail.
The meeting will take place in room 513.
The meeting follows the Incarceration Prevention and Reduction Task Force meeting earlier in the day.
