The biotoxin levels in southern Whatcom County have dropped, meaning no more biotoxin closures for recreational harvesting.

The Washington State Department of Health lifted the closure for the harvesting of molluscan shellfish, which include clams, mussels, oysters and scallops.

Some beaches will remain closed due to impaired water quality and the DOH encourages harvesters to “Know Before You Dig” and check biotoxin levels by calling the DOH Botoxin hotline at 1-800-562-5632.
