EVERSON, Wash. (AP) – Authorities say two pot belly pigs and four rabbits died in a barn fire on Stickney Island Road.
The Bellingham Herald reports that fire crews responded to the blaze in Everson Thursday morning.
Whatcom County Fire District No. 1 Chief Mel Blankers says that when firefighters arrived, the structure was nearly gone.
Whatcom County Fire Marshal Will Anderson says a horse and a pig were able to escape, but two pigs and four rabbits died.
Anderson says the fire was accidental and likely cause by an electrical short.
