BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The average wage in Whatcom County jumped 6.8 percent compared to a year ago.

The increase most likely comes from new jobs, rather than pay raises.

The average weekly wage was $860 during the second quarter, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor.

Whatcom County’s weekly wage ranks ninth highest out of the 10 largest counties in the state.
