Cooke Aquaculture has been fined for water quality violations at their Bainbridge Island facility.
According to a news release from the Deparment of Ecology, Cooke has repeatedly cleaned dirty equipment and discharged polluted waste water into the Puget Sound.
The DOE has issued an $8,000 penalty to Cooke for violating state law. In addition, Cooke must immediatly stop pressure washing wastewater into the Puget Sound and put up safe guards protect water quality.
Ecology has been directing Cooke to make adjustments and fix their violations since the agency started receiving complaints from citizens in 2016.
