MOUNT VERNON, Wash. – The man killed in a shooting in a Mount Vernon business park Sunday night has been identified as 19-year-old Jose Zapata.
The Skagit Valley Herald reports he died of a gunshot wound to the head.
Bellingham Police Lieutenant Don Almer says Mount Vernon police got information shortly after the shooting that led them to believe a possible shooter was in Bellingham.
Almer says local police went to the 3300 block of Northwest Avenue and arrested Andres Sanchez Segovia early Monday morning on robbery and manslaughter charges.
Mount Vernon police soon took over custody of Segovia and further investigated the residence.
